This season is seeing a lot of interesting shapes, especially bulky and masculine shapes for women’s wear. The influence of 90’s fashion is probably adding to that impression as well. I just love how classic pieces can be reinvented to fit the trends of the seasons. For example how jeans are either flared, tapered, cropped, or ripped to fit the current fashion trends but at the end of the day they are just a pair of jeans reflecting the times in where we live. At the moment, my favourite reinvented basic is the shirt. Especially a white shirt. Taking something so simple but being able to do so much with it is interesting I think, and a perfect way to spice up your wardrobe if you fancy being a bit trendy.
The white shirt I’m wearing in this feature is from NA-ED which I picked up over Christmas back in Sweden. My favourite part of this shirt is not the open split back, but the flared sleeves. I’d been looking for a flared sleeve shirt when I found this one and instantly fell in love. For me it’s the perfect reinvention of the classic white shirt as from the front you get a bit of flared sleeve action and from the back you get a split open surprise!
The skirt I’m wearing is a Jaquard Pleated Midi Skirt from Blue Vanilla. The colour is ‘Oyster’ and has a lovely and silver shimmering touch to it which goes perfectly with either white or black and silver accessories (my favourite kind!) This is the best type of skirt for me as my body type is a bit of a pear/hour glass shape, so a bit of distinction to the waist and bit of leg is perfect and exactly what you get from a pleated midi-length skirt! I’ve styled it with my go to clutch for silver accessorising that I got ages ago, and my Clarks cream and silver heels that I’ve had for a coupe of years. They are super durable AND comfortable – one of my best buys of all time for sure.
Lola had to make an appearance as well of course! She’s such a darling, but not as keen on dressing up as I am unfortunately. She’s had a Christmas jumper on before but that is as styled up she’ll get… She doesn’t need it though, she’s gorgeous and fluffy just the way she is.
Do you have any key items in your wardrobe your updating this season? I know it’s almost old news now, but I would like to get myself a pair of stepped hem jeans. Other than that I’m sticking to my reinvented shirts and silver skirts.
